On Saturday May 4th Buffalo traveled to Garwood, NJ for a home playoff match against Newport RI. Newport was informed thursday morning that they would be replacing the NERFU Champion South Shore as they were eliminated for ineliglible players.
Buffalo came out and looked to be taking the gain line early with runners, but was playing in there own end. A mid-field tackle by James Stewart (#8) was deemed no attempt to wrap and a yellow card issued with 5 mins expired. The next series a lose ball came out of a ruck and a Newport flanker took it in for a 50 meter try. Buffalo was off to a slow start. Newport scores again and takes a 12 point lead with 15 mins off the clock. 25 mins in Buffalo starts to surge back at makes it 7-12. At the 28 min mark buffalo take the lead for the 1st time of the day. 14-12. Half time sees buffalo taking a lead of 24-12. But Newport would not be finshed as another Yellow card to Chris Wells #12 at 58m mark for intentional knock which sparks another late push from Newport. 24-27 newport with 15 mins remaining. Buffalo subs start to gather the front foot and start mounting the final comeback. 38-27 final.
Buffalo started slow but found a way to get the job done Saturday. Next stop South Carolina!
