BRC Grabs a Win on the Road

On Saturday, BRC traveled to Erie, PA to play the Presque Isle Scallywags.  The Scallywags are a new club that plays in the MidWest.  The day was cold, damp, and windy so it was unlikely that "champagne rugby" would be played.  BRC opened slowly but playing with the wind, they settled into running the pattern on attack and playing tight defense.  As a result, the team, made up of D2 and D3 players, held a 24-0 lead at the half.  Presque Isle scored first in the second half but after BRC lost scrum 1/2 Matt Webber on a late hit, the team upped the intensity.  By the end of the game BRC had a comprehensive 43-7 win.  Alfie Furmanek lead all scorers with 3 tries. Colton Kells, Robert Vinal, Mike Lang, and Mackenzie Doolittle added solo tries while Collin DeGuehery made 4 conversions to round out the scoring.  After a weekend off, the club will travel to Oakville Ontario on May 12th to take on the Crusaders.
